 #formative #he’s the physical embodiment of the thing she finds most important in life #books and cleverness are easy but friendship and bravery she has to learn #and she learns it from this boy everyone else decided was a hero a decade ago #she knows he’s a hero to the wizarding world because she read it in a book #but that’s not her world yet; she’s just walking in #and then he proves himself to be a hero because he saves her #his first heroic act is saving her#his first. heroic. act. #not dying as a one-year-old is not heroism; heroism is a choice and not an accident #she learns friendship and bravery in that same moment by lying to the teachers to protect harry and ron #even though she didn’t really have to #and that is when harry becomes a hero not just from a storybook but also a hero to her #she learns friendship and bravery from and with him #hermione becomes a hero in her own right but it’s not like with harry #who takes on that mantle because it allows him self-actualization to be that person to this new world after a childhood of abuse #HERMIONE takes on books because it allows her self-actualization after what can only have been a strange and lonely childhood #but you can’t learn friendship and bravery from a book #she can learn it from him #and that is why she is #the one person who has never left him #because honestly how could she after that?#none of the others had noticed a thing #NO SHIP SHALL EVER COMPARE XOXO
